Why don't you visit Bali, The Island Paradise.. !!

Bali is a province in the country of Indonesia. The province covers a few small neighbouring islands as well as the isle of Bali.

The main island is located in the westernmost end of the Lesser Sunda Islands, lying between Java to the west and Lombok to the east. It is one of the country's 34 provinces with the provincial capital at Denpasar towards the south of the island.

More information on Bali here >>
Beautiful Bali has been called the famed island of the Gods.

With its varied landscape of sandy beaches, hills and mountains, rugged coastlines and cliffs, gorgeous waterfalls, as well as lush rice terraces and barren volcanic hillsides, some people claim that Bali is a paradise on earth. But Bali also has a colorful and deeply spiritual culture, which is why it is known as the “island of a thousand temples.”

There are sea temples, directional temples and so many others so that 1,000 is an understatement. In fact, everywhere you go, you see a temple. “There are so many temples that the Government does not bother to count them.”

There are also monkeys guarding the temples, monkeys in the rain forest, and even bats in a cave temple. Here’s a look at the sea temples, some wonderfully cute wildlife like monkeys, and some other stunning temples on the paradise on earth known as beautiful Bali.

New kings to be crowned on AFF Suzuki Cup 2010

The two sides have been regular opponents since 1957 when Indonesia beat Malaya 4-2 at the Merdeka Tournament in Kuala Lumpur. Before the introduction of the AFF Suzuki Cup, they also clashed twice in SEA Games finals, with Malaysia winning 1-0 in Jakarta in 1979 before the Indonesians exacted revenge by taking gold by the same score at the same venue eight years later.

They have met in the AFF Suzuki Cup on five previous occasions but, oddly, all of their matches before their group stage clash this year, came in the semi-finals.

The two teams first locked horn in the last four of the inaugural tournament in Singapore in 1996 when early goals by K.Sanbagamaran and Rusdee Sulong helped Malaysia to a 3-1 win. However, the Malaysians would lose the final to Thailand 1-0.

The Indonesians had to wait six years before their chance to avenge that defeat finally arrived in 2002. Then, a lone Bambang Pamungkas goal 15 minutes from time gave Ivan Kolev's side a hard-fought 1-0 win at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium and a place in the final against Thailand, which they lost on penalties.

They met again in the 2004 tournament when the semi-finals were played over two legs for the first time. Malaysia were the underdogs but they appeared on course for the final when they stunned the Indonesians with a 2-1 win in the first leg in Jakarta, courtesy of a brace by Liew Kit Kong, and extended their advantage through Khalid Jamlus in first half of the return match in Kuala Lumpur.

But Indonesia cut loose in the second half of that match with goals by Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto, Charis Yulianto, Ilham Jayakesuma and Boaz Salossa in the final 31 minutes giving them a 4-1 win and sending them through 5-3 on aggregate to a final against Singapore. Peter Withe's side failed to maintain their momentum though and were hammered 5-2 on aggregate by the Lions.

With Indonesia failing to make the last four in 2007 and Malaysia falling at the group stage two years ago, the two teams did not come together again until this year's group stage.

This time, an early goal by Norshahrul Idlan gave the Malaysians a shock early lead but an own goal by Asraruddin Putra and Cristian Gonzales' brilliant low strike turned things in the home side's favour before half-time. Sloppy defending by the Malaysians saw Muhammad Ridwan, substitute Arif Suyono and Irfan Bachdim adding to the score in the second half as they crashed to a 5-1 defeat, their heaviest ever loss in the AFF Suzuki Cup.

Don't expect a similar scoreline in the final. In fact the only thing that one should expect in this year's final is that – with Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam watching from the sidelines – new champions will be crowned in the AFF Suzuki Cup. They may be long-time regional rivals but when Malaysia and Indonesia clash in this year's AFF Suzuki Cup final, it will mark their first meeting in the final of Southeast Asia's most prestigious football tournament.

Bali, a tropical island in the Indonesian archipelago, is so picturesque and immaculate it could almost be a painted backdrop. It has rice paddies tripping down hillsides like giant steps, volcanoes soaring up through the clouds, dense tropical jungle, long sandy beaches, warm blue water, crashing surf and friendly people who don't just have a culture but actually live it. Bali Island, the perfect holiday destination for all ages offers something for everyone. This tropical paradise has a unique blend of modern tourist facilities combined with wonderful shopping and a rich past and heritage. The Balinese people are proud of having preserved their unique Hindu culture against the advance of Islam, the dominant religion throughout Indonesia. This is still reflected in day to day life and can be seen in the numerous ceremonies, Balinese festivals and magnificent temples and palaces. Some of the best surfing beaches in the world can be found on the western side of the island whilst conversely the eastern side is a wonderful haven for families, with beautiful white sand beaches and gentle seas.

Bali Island is a shopper's paradise particularly for casual and tailored clothing, locally made jewellery, handicrafts, antiques and artifacts. Leather ware is one of the unexpected local bargains with everything from handbags through to tailor made leather jackets and coats, all at unbelievable prices. In fact, prices are so inexpensive, you're sure to need more room in your suitcase! Try bargaining at the street markets of Kuta, Sanur of Nusa Dua or fixed price shopping at a Denpasar department store. Bali has it all. Come to Indonesia, Come to Bali :)

Jean Gelman Taylor - Indonesia :Peoples and Histories

Indonesia is the fourth largest country in the world. It comprises more than 17,000 islands inhabited by 230 million people who speak over 300 different languages. Now the world’s largest Muslim nation, Indonesia remains extraordinarily heterogeneous due to the waves of immigration—Buddhist, Hindu, Arab, and European—that have defined the region’s history.
Fifty years after the collapse of Dutch colonial rule, Indonesia is a nation in the midst of dramatic upheaval. In this broad survey, Jean Gelman Taylor explores the connections between the nation’s many communities, and the differences that propel contemporary breakaway movements.

Drawing on a broad range of sources, including art, archaeology, and literature, Taylor provides a historical overview from the prehistoric period to the present day. The text is enlivened by brief "capsule" histories on topics ranging from pepper to Maharajas to smallpox.

This ambitious book—the first new history of Indonesia written in over twenty years—will be essential reading for anyone interested in the history of Southeast Asia and the future stability of the region.

AdrianVickers - a History of Modern Indonesia

Although Indonesia has the fourth largest population in the world, its history is still relatively unknown.

Adrian Vickers takes the reader on a journey across the social and political landscape of modern Indonesia, starting with the country's origins under the Dutch in the early twentieth-century, and the subsequent anti-colonial revolution which led to independence in 1949.

Thereafter the spotlight is on the 1950s, a crucial period in the formation of Indonesia as a new nation, followed by the Sukarno years, and the anti-Communist massacres of the 1960s when General Suharto took over as president. The concluding chapters chart the fall of Suharto's New Order after thirty two years in power, and the subsequent political and religious turmoil which culminated in the Bali bombings in 2002.

Adrian Vickers is Professor of Asian Studies at the University of Wollongong. He has previously worked at the Universities of New South Wales and Sydney, and has been a visiting fellow at the University of Indonesia and Udayana University (Bali). Vickers has more than twenty-five years research experience in Indonesia and the Netherlands, and has travelled in Southeast Asia, the U.S. and Europe in the course of his research.

He is author of the acclaimed Bali: a Paradise Created (Penguin, 1989) as well as many other scholarly and popular works on Indonesia. In 2003 Adrian Vickers curated the exhibition Crossing Boundaries, a major survey of modern Indonesian art, and has also been involved in documentary films.

The Obama Emotional Journey to Indonesia

US President Barack Obama will travel to Indonesia with his family next month (March 2010), returning to the country where he spent four years as a child.

Obama, who has referred to himself as "America's first Pacific president" because of his birth in Hawaii and his years in Indonesia, will also visit Australia during the trip, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said.

Gibbs said that while in Indonesia, Obama will launch a U.S.-Indonesian partnership aimed at broadening and strengthening ties between the United States and the country that is home to the world's largest Muslim population.

Asked whether Obama, to be accompanied by his wife Michelle and two young daughters Sasha and Malia, would visit childhood haunts, Gibbs said: "I'd anticipate that will likely be one of the stops."

Obama's late mother, Ann Dunham, came to Indonesia with her six-year-old son in the late 1960s to join her second husband, an Indonesian man named Lolo Soetoro.

Obama recounts in his book "Dreams From My Father" being amazed to find the house they moved into on the outskirts of Jakarta had a collection of exotic animals including a monkey, birds of paradise, a cockatoo and several baby crocodiles.

His time in Indonesia was cut short in 1971 when he was sent to Hawaii to live with his grandparents, while his mother stayed with her husband.

Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said the visit reflected "current expectations" in relations with Washington.

"This is about developing a comprehensive partnership between the U.S. and Indonesia in all areas," he told Reuters.

Indradjaya Madewa, a friend of Obama's when they attended the same elementary school, said he hoped the president would visit the school during his visit.

"He remembers me and my family because we were neighbours, as well as classmates for three and a half years," said Madewa, now a 47-year-old businessman.

Gibbs said during the trip, to take place in the second half of March, Obama would also visit the island of Guam, where he would speak to U.S. military personnel.

This emotional journey of obama will affect for Indonesian people, I think...

West Sumatra of Indonesia Quake 2009

The death toll reported from West Sumatra, Indonesia has climbed to 608 with thousands more missing after the earthquake last week. Those who survived the quake are now running out of clean water, food and shelter, and doctors are running out of medicine to treat the thousands injured, according to the National Emergency Management Agency in Jakarta.

The United Nations is working closely with the Indonesian government to coordinate the aid that has come in from numerous countries. The UN is providing heavy equipment to search for survivors trapped by the earthquake as well as health kits and school tents to survivors.

International Faith-based Relief organizations in the United States have also responded to the needs of the people in Indonesia.

On September 30 a magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck off the coast of West Sumatra devastating an expanse greater than 60 miles on the coast of West Sumatra. The quake damaged more than 100,000 buildings and has trapped thousands of people within the rubble.

The earthquake’s epicenter was located along the same fault line that spurred the 2004 Asian Tsunami that killed more than 130,000 people in Southeast Asia. No tsunamis were reported from this event.

Just a few weeks before Sumatra was struck, an earthquake devastated the island of Java in Indonesia.

A typhoon has also killed hundreds of people across Southeast Asian nations.

Noordin M. Top Has Been Dead!

Still remember the top Malaysian terrorist who live in Indonesia ?

Special forces raided a hide-out Thursday 17 and killed militant mastermind Noordin Muhammed Top, striking at the heart of the terrorist network behind a deadly campaign of suicide attacks in Indonesia, including the Bali nightclub bombings.

It was the latest success against terror figures worldwide, starting with a U.S. missile that took out a key Taliban commander in Pakistan last month.

Besides knocking out Southeast Asia's most-wanted man, Thursday's operation also netted a fugitive bombmaker believed to have designed explosives for twin suicide bombings at luxury hotels in Jakarta in July.

A cunning and charismatic figure, Noordin had eluded capture for more than seven years. He was tracked down at a house in the city of Solo in central Java, a breeding ground for militant Islam, where an overnight siege and hours-long gunfight ended at dawn with an explosion.

The bodies of four suspects were recovered from the burned-out house, including Noordin and an alleged explosives expert, Bagus Budi Pranato, believed to have manufactured the bombs used by suicide attackers in the July 17 attacks on the J.W. Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels that killed seven and wounded more than 50.

We hope that the dead of Noordin could have a positive affect for all of us. In my mind, I appreciate of what Government did, but I prefer Noordin catch in alive condition.

Watch the dead of Noordin below:

1000 Face of Noordin M. Top. Is He Dead?

“Alhamdullilah!” (Arabic for Thank God), that's what I said after I heard that the Malaysian terrorist Noordin M. Top was shot dead by Police Special Unit DENSUS-88 on 7 August, at his hideout in Temanggung, Central Java.

I felt very happy because Noordin and another Malaysian terrorist Azhari, who was killed few years ago, have ‘brainwashed’ some Indonesian Muslims to kill lots of people, mostly Muslims, by their suicide bombings in Bali, Jakarta, Poso and Ambon.

According to
National Police Chief Bambang Danuri, at almost the same time the Police has also killed two other terrorists and found 500 Kg Explosives in Jatiasih, Bekasi, West Java, which will be used for suicide bombings at the President's private residence located 5 Kilometers from the location and the State Palace during our independence day celebration on 17 August. Before the above mentioned raids, the Police have arrested five other terrorists.

In spite of the above, there is one big question: Is the body in Temanggung belongs to Noordin M. Top or an Indonesian who act as his decoy?

Bambang Danuri cannot confirm this, he said that the Police need to conduct a DNA Test on the body and check it with the DNA of the relative of anyone suspected including that of Noordin M. Top. For details, please click here, here, here and here.

Considering the above, I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to our Police especially the DENSUS 88 Unit for their efforts and success. I hope that there will be more success in the future, for which purpose everyone in Indonesia, including the Armed Forces & citizens, should assist and cooperate closely with the Police.

Marriot Hotel Bombed again! Jakarta the capital of Indonesia has socked with a pair of powerful bombs exploded at two luxury hotels, JW Marriott and Ritz Carlton Hotels in an upscale Jakarta business district Friday. Reported that Bombing: 9 Killed At 2 Hotels In Indonesian Capital.

The Jakarta bombings come less than a decade after Jemaah Islamiyah first bombed the JW Marriott Hotel. Do you think Jemaah Islamiyah behind all of the Jakarta Bombings 2009 at the Marriott and Ritz Carlton Hotels today? Don't be so sure...

The JW Marriott Hotel in Jakarta was first bombed on August 5, 2003. Jemaah Islamiyah was credited for the deadly blast that killed 12, injured 150. The 2003 Marriott bombing was effectuated by suicide bomber just outside the hotel.

Thereafter, on August 11, 2003, al-Qaeda claimed responsibility issuing a statement to Al Jazeera which read as follows:

“This operation is part of a series of operations that Dr Ayman al-Zawahiri has promised carry out. [It is] a fatal slap on the face of America and its allies in Muslim Jakarta, where faith has been denigrated by the dirty American presence and the discriminatory Australian presence.”

The hotel would not reopen for five weeks. And Today, just see the videos below, windows on the lower floors of the Marriott have reportedly been blown out. The videos appears to be from Indonesian TV, and shows the extent of the damage to the two hotels - Ritz-Carlton and Marriott - including blown-out windows and scattered debris and glass, and you can watch the suspect on Jakarta bomber:
